Absurdity Abounds

You cannot simultaneously believe that we should listen to scientists about global warming and ignore them about gender.

You cannot also believe we should listen to scientists about gender and not about religion.

You cannot be ok with the Executive Branch having unchecked power under Obama and not under Trump.

You cannot believe it’s ok for Trump to ignore Congress and do what he wants if you didn’t like it when Obama did it.

Here’s a news flash for you guys who support either of those Presidents: they were both just terrible. Obama was better out of pure professionalism and respect for the Office. Don’t @ me, bitches.

In response to a history of bias, prejudice and racism- you should not resort to bias, prejudice and racism. A history of ignorance against one race is not an excuse to perpetuate that ignorance as “vengeance”. I mean you can if you want, but there’s a zero percent chance of things getting better that way.

Examine your opinion about literally any significant event over the past two years.

Did your eventual conclusion (after you had all the facts) differ from your INITIAL conclusion (what you thought was going on when you first saw it reported on the media).

If you have NEVER CHANGED YOUR MIND, you need to examine your beliefs objectively. I will tell you right now, there are plenty of events- police shootings, racial encounters, sexual assault accusations- that COMPLETELY fall apart when the evidence rolls in.

But no one ever changes their mind. The MAGA Hat/Native American thing is only the latest example of this.

But since that’s the one we have, let’s work with it.

Since the initial video, we now know this is what happened:

• Kids from a private Catholic school in Kentucky bused some kids to an anti-abortion March in DC.
• After the march, they were told to meet at the Lincoln Monument
• At the monument both Black Hebrew Israelites and Native Americans were protesting.
• As the kids started showing up, they gravitated toward the same thing we all would have gravitated toward- the person who was screaming.
• After a while, the BHI started throwing insults at the kids and encouraging them to defend their views.
• More kids showed up, and they crowded around the BHI.
• Some kids acted like jackasses
• Eventually the BHI started disturbing the crowd by calling the President a “faggot” and other things of that nature.
• Nathan Phillips and another Native American protestor, came over to the raucous to “calm things down”.
• Nathan Phillips began playing his drum and walked right into the crowd. He walked right up to one young man and started playing in his face.
• The kid smirked.
• The other Native American protestor begins telling the kids to “Go back to Europe” and “get the fuck out of my face with that bullshit”.
• More kids acted like jackasses.
• The buses arrived
• The kids left.

You remember that scene in that movie with Kevin Bacon when he was a lawyer and he gave an opening statement that was just a series of facts? It was all like, “these guys walked up to that guy and killed him. That’s a fact. That’s right- that’s not in dispute. The other guys are going to throw up a bunch of smoke and mirrors but at the end of the day, they killed this guy. So enjoy the show, but remember- that shit HAPPENED.”

That’s how I feel with this incident.

None of those things above is in dispute. That’s what happened based on video evidence and confirmation from the people who were there (who confirmed their own behavior- disregard anything they said about the behavior of others as biased).

And we know all that now.

But no one cares. They still blame the kids.

And the only rationale I have heard that isn’t DIRECTLY CONTRADICTED by video evidence is “they were wearing those racist hats”.

So that’s where we are now.

Those kids had to close their school because of threats of a bomb and a school shooting. They had their social media and cell phones hacked and all their personal information put on the internet. The lives of their parents were threatened.

I haven’t seen it on the news, but I’m sure Nathan Phillips is getting his fair share too.

I’m also sure the BHI gets a hundred death threats a day. Probably issues a few too.

And here we are: fully-informed, and willfully-ignorant.
